Description
A cold wet evening from Allentown's Seventh and Hamilton intersection. This is easily the most identifiable intersection in Allentown and possibly the entire Lehigh Valley. Home to the century-plus old Soldiers and Sailors monument which anchors the center of the intersection, the PPL Center on the one corner and historic architecture everywhere you look. This area has transformed quite a lot since my youth, but still retains it's historic elements to this day.
I don't make too many trips downtown, except to take photos from time to time. This particular weekend was miserable and rain-soaked, but provided a great opportunity to take some photos of this area. With the monument and PPL Center, this area is always well lit. It's also home to some popular bars and restaurants, so it's never too empty. This shot was taken from the southeast corner of the intersection. You get a nice view west on Hamilton Street with the PPL Global corporate building standing tall in the background. The wet pavements are the reason for coming here tonight, as they really light up the scene by reflecting the streetlamps and traffic lights.
